5 COCKTAILS PERFECT FOR LIGHTWEIGHT DRINKERS
My go-to drank(drink) since college has always been- an Amaretto sour.
I have been drinking the same mixed drink for over a decade, partially because I’m a creature of habit. When I like something, I usually stick with it, but mainly because I am a lightweight drinker and only want to drink sweet cocktails that won’t knock me down!
After over a decade of being ridiculed by some of my besties, I finally started to branch out and explore a few new alcoholic beverages.
Below are five low proof drinks ( or drinks that can be remixed to be low proof) that could easily become my new signature cocktail and are perfect for lightweight/social drinkers.
1.CRANBERRY & VODKA
Cranberry and vodkas are one of my favorites go-to’s for two reasons.
- It’s simple to make
- You most likely have all of the ingredients in your pantry already.
This drink gives me, I Just got off work, and after a long day, I want to unwind but don’t feel like doing too much.
- 1-1/2 ounces Tito’s vodka
- 4 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
- 1 splash of lime juice
My girl Carrie (Bradshaw ) put me onto these! After being home and binge-watching Sex in the City on HBO, I had to try a Cosmo, and now if I am out for lunch with friends, this is one of my favorite drinks to order.
- 1 1/2 ounces citrus vodka
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 splash of cranberry juice
- Garnish: lime wedge
This drink gives me date night at your favorite Restaurant. Probably because the first time that I had a Pomegranate Martini was at Ruth Chris steak house, which is one of my favorite restaurants, it’s a great balance of sweet and sour and gives a dash of sophistication.
- 1/4 cup pomegranate juice
- 1 1/2 oz citrus vodka (orange or mandarin preferred)
- 1/2 oz Triple Sec
- 1/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 6-8 ice cubes
- 1 tbsp pomegranate seeds
4.Amaretto Sour with Bourbon
Now I know you didn’t think that I would abandon my OG drink Ameretto Sour completely?
When you add Bourbon to this drink, it turns into an older, more mature, and sexy sister!
- 2 ounces Amaretto
- 3/4 ounce Russell’s bourbon
- 1-ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1-ounce simple syrup
- Lemon peel and maraschino cherry for garnish
I have always enjoyed a nice glass of wine, including Prosecco, but I had never tried real Champagne until this year.
So, on my birthday, my BFF treated me to a Bottle of Vevue Cliquot, and I can’t believe that I have been missing out on this cold, crisp, toasty Treat! Vevue Cliquot really is the perfect NYE drink. I have a bottle chilling in my refrigerator for tomorrow night as we speak.
It’s delicious, smooth, and magical. Just try it, you won’t be disappointed!
I have tried hanging with the big dogs and I CAN NOT, so I have learned to stay in my lane with mixed drinks and when I am feeling fancy a glass of Champagne. What is your Signature Drink?
